News

C-Innovation, LLC (C-I), an affiliate of Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) and its family of companies, has acquired the controlling interest in Caltex Oil Tools, a solution-focused company providing equipment rentals, services and customized engineering capabilities to the offshore industry.

Headquartered in Houston and led by a core management team with more than 65 years of experience in deep water, remote technologies and intervention solutions, the Caltex team will enable C-I to further expand its engineering and subsea service capabilities in order to deliver a more complete offering. This acquisition underscores C-innovation’s core mission to serve as the single source solution for the subsea and offshore industries.

David Sheetz, vice president of C-I, said, “With the acquisition of Caltex, we advance our position as the single source solution for our customers. Caltex’s highly experienced team is a perfect fit to support C-I’s continued growth as a leader in the subsea market. We have been working with Caltex for a few years now, and I believe this deal will allow us to jointly develop more efficient technology and processes to increase returns in riserless light well intervention (RLWI) projects.”

Justin Branner, general manager of Caltex, said, “Caltex is excited to join C-Innovation as they are aligned in our vision and will be a catalyst in our pursuit to develop technology and provide services that drive efficiency and close the technology gap throughout the industry. C-Innovation is a loyal customer from the beginning trusting Caltex with providing well intervention and flowline intervention services, so this made sense for us as a company to solidify our relationship and optimize the value offering to the end customers.”

“We are enthusiastic about welcoming the Caltex team into the Chouest family of companies,” said Dino Chouest, president of C-Innovation. “Teaming C-Innovation with Caltex, along with other Chouest companies, will further strengthen us as a world leader in offering our clients a total solution in today’s challenging market.”

C-Innovation Successfully Completes Stem Clamp Installation on BP’s Mad Dog Spar

C-Innovation Successfully Completes Stem Clamp Installation on BP’s Mad Dog Spar

News

C-Innovation, LLC (C-I), an affiliate of Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) and its family of companies, has completed the installation of several stem clamps for BP beneath the Mad Dog Spar in the Gulf of Mexico, utilizing its subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) remotely operated vehicle (ROV) vessel, MV Dove.

Throughout the planning process, several risks were mitigated for C-I and BP assets by modifying the ROV. This included armoring with Lexan polycarbonate, design of new manipulator mounting subframes to extend the reach of the manipulators by 12 in. and installation of enhanced manipulator controls systems. The project was a success and completed 10 days ahead of BP’s schedule.

Ryan Combs, project manager, C-Innovation, said, “C-I was engaged by BP early in the project lifecycle to provide input into the design of the subsea hardware and installation capabilities of the ROV, which would face limited access to the installation location beneath the facility. The C-I project team engaged with the ROV operations groups, offshore managers and tooling group in order to evaluate the risks involved with the execution of the project and ultimately secured a successful outcome.”

Adam Kluge, BP ARP, said, “C-I overcame some complex demands with a challenging method of installation in very tight working quarters within the structure and did so safely, with great skill, in half the anticipated timeframe. The success of the execution was directly attributable to excellent teamwork and communication throughout each phase. We are very fortunate to work with C-I on our projects. They contribute an excellent work ethic, great interpersonal skills and are adept at creating a team out of a group of individuals.”

ExxonMobil Commends C-INSTALLER Crew

ExxonMobil Commends C-INSTALLER Crew

News

Crewmembers aboard ECO’s C-INSTALLER were recognized by Esso Exploration and Production Guyana (commonly known as ExxonMobil) for their hard work and safe operations. The crew aboard the C-INSTALLER began operations in Guyana in April 2018, and has since then accomplished many major tasks outside the standard rig support without any injuries.

Even though challenges with equipment failures and repairs threatened the workflow during the past year and a half, the team offered solutions that allowed projects to remain on schedule and without interruption.

Matt Bessette, Esso Exploration Wells Engineer, praised the team through an email message and included that he is “proud to be part of the culture that lives onboard.” He continued, “There are several unsung heroes in this regard who drive the positive spirit. Their friendliness and energy onboard ripples a long way.”

Bessette also highlighted the survey crew for contributing significantly to the success of every operation with a crane hook or ROV in the water. This crew ensures their equipment is performing properly, documentation is supplied, and communication with the vessel and ROV crews are open.

Keith Munoz, Esso Exploration Marine Logistics Supervisor, also applauded the crew’s teamwork. Munoz recognized the crew’s ability to follow procedures which he called “impressive and encouraging.” Munoz continued to say, “Many thanks to the C-Installer, Chouest Management, Drilling, Subsea, and Logistics for safely working day in and day out. Let’s continue by treating every task as if it were the first.”

Thank you to the C-INSTALLER crew for your dedication to working with a safety-first attitude!
